Sabina Barcucci
Lacuna Lab - Sabina Barcucci

I am an independent cultural manager, project design consultant and researcher with a background in architecture, design technology, and STS. In my capacity as a cultural manager, I operate at the intersection of art & science, community and technology. I have developed programs and spaces for museums (MUSE Science Museum, ECSITE the European network of science centers and museums), cultural centers (Imbarchino del Valentino, Teatro Franco Parenti, Teatro della Tosse), fabrication labs (MUSE FabLab, WeMake, Opendotlab), and festivals (Festival della Scienza di Genova, Elektropark Music Festival), assisting organizations and implementing their programs, community, and collaboration strategies.
In my capacity as a project design consultant, I help mission-based organizations courageously acknowledge and work within continuous change. Through transformative years-lasting projects, I help communities and teams to become more confident in understanding, managing, and creating digital experiments, products, and services that create impact, welcome new interpreters and open meaningful dialogs with old and new audiences
As a researcher and educator, I am situated at the intersection of open knowledge, post-disciplinary and democratizing technologies. For more than 10 years I have been an active player in the open source Maker, DIY Bio and hacker scenes, advocating open access to science and technology through enabling grassroots peer-production mechanisms. From 2016 until 2020 I have been professor at the PSSD Innovation Studio, master study at Politecnico of Milan School of Design, and jury member at the post-graduate master in Advanced Studies in Interaction Design MAIND Supsi, in Lugano, now Master of Arts.
